Holly farms strategy Introduction In order to revive profits and save themselves from bearing heavy losses, Fred and Gillian Giles had opened a two purposed farm for the general public in 1993. Their ambitious goals had let them to put in all their savings to establish facilities on the farm which would entertain the tourists. What we find in this case is that Gillian , the partner in charge of the complementary businesses is facing two critical decisions (a) how to increase the number of customers visiting the farm and (b) how to increase the retail sales of the ice-cream.Since capital investment is not a viable option for the business the means of increasing customer traffic are limited to promotional activities and attracting the right customers for both tours and ice-cream sales. Two Brothers In 1526, the ruler of the Incas, Huayna Capac, died. The custom of the time was to leave the empire to one son. Instead, Huayna divided the inca">Inca Empire between his two sons, Hu`ascar of Cuzco and Atahualpa of Quito. This was the first time in the history of the Incas that the empire was divided. A rivalry between the brothers soon began and worsened over time. The Inca of Cuzco with Hu`ascar as their ruler went to war against his brother Atahualpa and the Incas of Quito. After several years of fighting, Atahualpa finally defeated his brother and was thus became the sole ruler of the weakened and still divided Inca Empire. In 1532, Francisco Pizarro arrived with plans to conquer the Incas. A meeting was arranged between Pizarro and Atahualpa. Although, Atahualpa was prepared to negotiate with the Spaniards, Pizarro had other ideas. When the Inca arrived at the meeting place, the conquistadores captured Atahualpa and killed his guards. Pizarro held Atahualpa for ransom to collect gold, silver and other valuables from the Inca people. Instead of being released when the ransom was paid, the Inca ruler was tried for several crimes against the king and sentenced to death. His death brought the Inca Empire to an end. Customer focus is an important part of TQM. For the new materials requirement plan to be a success the plan needs to focus on the needs of the customer. By contracting with Hello Kitty Gloves, Team A Hospital will be putting the customer first. The hospital will no longer have to concern themselves with missed deliveries and concerns about not having needed supplies. Leadership is another principal of TQM. Roxana has most often been appraised as a story of moral decay, in which the heroine progre sses from â€Å"virtuous poverty to corrupt wealth.† Roxana has also been criticized as a woman with a cynical attachment toward those who love her and whose rational self-interest places her as the embodiment of Defoe’s vision of a corrupt society. Roxana is a heroine who rushes toward material comfort and self transformation at the price of her soul. Roxana’s internal world of memory and guilt concerning her various sexual partners, the death of her daughter Susan at the hands of Amy, and the like, becomes the price Roxana pays for the control she assumes in external world of financial and sexual interests. In this aspect, two factors about Roxana should be emphasized: the nature of Roxana as a new economic woman caught between profit and spirituality and the issues of empire and slavery which were not only important in the fictional life of Roxana, but also in Defoe’s life.
